The forum appears to be under attack by spam merchants. There have been two in as many days (James removed the first one, but I see a new one has arrived).
Are unregistered users able to post? If so, maybe this is the time to lock them out.

I have finally figured out that some, not all of the forum categories were set to allow Guest posts. That has now been recitifed.
